Do you want a CPZ?

Opponents of the CPZ ... failing to make their case
I think it is the opponents of the CPZ that are failing to make their case, resorting to scare-mongering.
If you look at the Herne Hill CPZ, it has not reduced parking in side streets such as Hollingbourne Road and Ruskin Walk. And it is easy to park near the shops in that CPZ.
Many of those protesting on your website appear to live in or around Elmwood Road, but the real problem is experienced the closer you get to either Herne Hill road or North Dulwich station. In the case of the former, people living in the top part of Elfindale Road often can’t park anywhere near their houses, because of overflow from Herne Hill. So they have to park at the bottom of the road, where finding parking spaces can be extremely difficult for much of the day and evening.
The same is true in the roads close to North Dulwich station, with loads of drivers parking for the day to commute into the centre.
What I really fear is that a smaller CPZ will be introduced close to North Dulwich station, which would drive day-parkers into the roads not covered – around Elmwood and Elfindale – making it even harder to park in the latter.
Yours sincerely
John Willman
PS I hope you will publish this on the cpzdulwich.net website. I think my views are shared by a lot of people in Elfindale Road
