CPZ may be introduced on street by street basis even if majority vote against

'The results of the consultation, combined with the views of the community council and the parking occupancy surveys will help determine whether or not a CPZ is introduced (subject to second stage consultation) in some or all of the area.

If a decision is made to go ahead with introducing a CPZ, we will carry out a second consultation with all residents and businesses in the roads concerned to determine the final parking layout before works begin.'

Do you want a CPZ?

VERY strongly opposed

I am VERY strongly opposed to a CPZ in Elmwood Road and, without wishing to rehash the superb comments of Matin and Benny, a CPZ would be unnecessary, inconvenient, expensive and unfair. It would  add to, not detract from, the parking problems in our area and would constitute an unfair tax on residents who quite clearly don't want it.  As such it smacks of a blatant money-making exercise by the Council.    My recollection is that we were "consulted" on this issue only relatively recently and the idea of a CPZ received a resounding "No" by a very large majority of the community.  The fact that the council feel it necessary to re-explore this so soon does indeed suggest that they have financial interests in seeing this happen rather than a real desire to respond to the overwhelming will of the residents.  It is clear that the residents have spoken but that the council refuses to listen - presumably deafened by the clatter of money?

I would also reiterate Benny's comments that while there are rarely problems in Elmwood Road, the only significant contributor to increased parking congestion in the street has been the total failure of the council to provide adequate parking for teachers at the Charter school. The Charter teachers use Elmwood Road as an extension of the schools obviously limited parking facilities.  The last thing I would like to see is the council digging up school playing fields to create car parks for teachers but surely there may be some 'brown' sites within the Charter grounds that could be allocated?

Best wishes.
