CPZ may be introduced on street by street basis even if majority vote against

'The results of the consultation, combined with the views of the community council and the parking occupancy surveys will help determine whether or not a CPZ is introduced (subject to second stage consultation) in some or all of the area.

If a decision is made to go ahead with introducing a CPZ, we will carry out a second consultation with all residents and businesses in the roads concerned to determine the final parking layout before works begin.'

Do you want a CPZ?

Plenty of parking available.

I am very worried about the proposal that I have been told about to bring in controlled parking into the North Dulwich area.

I am a lodger in this area. My own house and home is in a village in East Sussex. However, I live in North Dulwich during the week as I work in London.

I am not a heavy car user. I have a car as I need to drive up from East Sussex on a Sunday night or Monday morning and back again at the end of the working week on Friday afternoons. I need to do this as the there is no train station in my village and I often have to bring up or take home work papers and other bulky items. During the week I use public transport or cycle. This means that during the week I leave my car parked on the street close to the house where I am a lodger. This is not a problem as the parking is not restricted and there is always plenty of parking available.

Under your CPZ proposals I do not know what I would do. As my main address is in East Sussex and my car is registered there would I be entitled to a resident's parking permit. If I am not then I would probably have to leave this area, or my current job. I am not prepared to give up my home in East Sussex.

Please could you explain whether as a lodger I would be eligible for a resident's parking permit?

Even if I can get a parking permit I do not understand why I should have to pay for a permit when there is plenty of parking available for "full time" local residents? Is the Council actually interested in the welfare of its residents?

Yours faithfully

Sam North
